In spring of 2024 during a complete solar eclipse in Bloomington, Indiana, the Book Lab partnered with the Institute for Digital Arts and Humanities (now the Initiative for Digital Arts and Humanities) and faculty History, History and Philosophy of Science, Medieval Studies and French and Italian to demonstrate the use of the medieval Astrolabe, a medieval tool that let people measure height and distance and determine the time of day and find stars in the sky for navigation.
In fall 2021, Book Lab staff created and curated an exhibition called Nature's Hues as part of a collaboration among Cook Center units, the Book Lab and Traditional Arts Indiana, called Arts of Resilience.
